Sean White announces active lifestyle brand partnership with Backcountry ahead of the Olympics

Three-time Olympic snowboard champion Shaun White has announced a partnership with outdoor retailer Backcountry ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. White’s active lifestyle brand, Whitespace, is inspired by the personal freedom that people need to create and reach their potential.
“What makes extreme sports so incredible is that they are a melting pot of music, art and culture. A community that welcomes and encourages everyone to have their own style and vision,” White said.
The partnership between Whitespace and Backcountry was announced with the launch of the limited edition Whitespace Freestyle Shaun White Pro skis, available for purchase starting January 13 at backcountry.com/sc/whitespace. Each Whitespace Freestyle Shaun White Pro ski is hand numbered, serial number certified, autographed and packaged in a custom leather strap engraved with the year it was founded.
“I’ve been a professional athlete for over 20 years, so I’m excited to combine my competitive, training and design experience to create gear that truly represents extreme sports,” White explains. “Blank is a creative term for a blank canvas: anyone can be who they want to be and have the freedom to create whatever they want. With Backcountry, I’m excited to launch my eponymous brand and bring it to life.”
The presentation of snowboarding precedes the Winter Olympics, which will start on February 4 in Beijing. This competition will be the fifth Winter Olympics for whites. Later this year, the partnership will debut a range of outerwear, snowboarding and streetwear. White will ride a limited edition board during the game.
